Maybe the time has come for a release of version 0.8 ? ;)
Thnx! That will not take that long, somewhere this week.
The set that keeps on giving. Nicely done!
Thnx!
Everything looks very, very nice. Good job. However, I miss the stairs on these overpasses.
Thnx! The squares that you see on the platforms (and on the roof) are elevator/staircases. Furthermore these tiles can link up nicely to some high buildings next to them (like the ones from the Japan set) to give access to the station from those (like Hoog Catharijne in Utrecht)
Very nice, i might have a sugggestion for the island platform Ramps.
In real they are mostly centered with a piece of platform continuing on both sides.
@jor[D]1, how are these? (single side and islandstyle will be available too):

Sorry, but still makes no sense to me. Elevators, ok. But a staircase can never fit in that tiny space. Not one that has enough capacity anyways. A big-sized overpass like that needs a big-sized stairs to go with it. :P

I agree that one that has enough capacity may not fit in there, however for the purpose of keeping it visually attractive I would not like to add a big staircase. It is up to your imagination what is in there to transport the people up and down. Maybe it is just a giant staircase or elevator on it's own, I dunno ;-) I just wanted to add something that people can use to get from the platform to the overpass, what is in it is debate-able ;-)
Maybe something like this (with a smaller elevator and wider staircase):

Your visualisation of an elevator shaft with a stair circling around it, is totally un-Dutch. I've never seen such a thing on a station here. :P

But it seems neither of us is gonna convince the other, so I guess I'll just go with the option not to use this specific overpass :P

Thats true, but I also never saw this style of overpass.
It's a more imaginative one, maybe for the 2050+ era ;-)
It is just another option, where I focused more on the visual attractiveness.
And with the set being modular and with two other overpass options in it, a player is very welcome not to use it.

EDIT, just another thought. What if I made the overpass twice as wide? Stairs/elevators entrances would be obstructed from sight and it might get a more Utrecht kinda feel to it?

I'm not gonna stop you, but if you make the overpass twice as wide, it'd be roughly the size the overpasses of Amersfoort* and 's-Hertogenbosch, and based on those overpasses, the stairs would still need to be visible. ('s-Hertogenbosch overpass might be a nice addition since it has a older style architecture, unlike Amersfoort overpass).

If you want a more "Utrecht kinda feel", you may as well make the new station hall they're building at Utrecht Centraal (with the wave-shaped roof), which will likely be a few tiles wide (modular?). I mean, if you're really into a spriting spree, that'd be totally epic. You can pretty much skip drawing stairs on that one :P The platform roofings which are in the set kinda need an update too. Those were originally based upon concept art of the new Utrecht Centraal, but it seems the real thing they're building now looks a tad different :P

*When I refer to the Amersfoort overpass, I mean the extended station hall, the main entrance, not the newer and smaller footbridge on the other end of the platforms.

It looks to me that the stairwell can be imagined right next to the elevator shaft, and just small enough that it's not discernible.

@Purno's stairs concerns, the staircase could be arranged like this at Peterborough station, so you go up a flight, turn, up a flight, turn and up the final flight on to the overpass; surely there are places with similar arrangements in The Netherlands?

The temporary overpasses at Arnhem are very similar to that, but they will be removed once the station's renovation is done.

The underpass in Arnhem is finished already, about 1,5 years ago. They removed the so much hated temporary stairs almost immediatly. Things are way better now.

The problem with such stairs is that they don't provide very useful passenger flow, so you generally don't see them in high usage places like stations, where everyone arrives at the same time and generally is in a hurry.

The overpass drawn by Quast don't give the impression to be temporary, which kinda renders your comparison invalid

So far, it seems to me that everyone agrees with the fact that such a 'hidden' stairs is possible in real life*, but is never really used in our country**. Which would mean that my original statement is still in place.***

*Examples are given in the form of CAD-drawings, pictures of a UK station, and a reference to temporary overpasses
**Even while it seems everyone is trying to prove such a stairs exist, nobody really found a good example so far.
***The original statement was that Quast's overpass with hidden stairs isn't realistic for our country.

After some thinking, I agree with you Purno in such a way that this overpass would not fit in the set with the other parts.
This set is mainly aimed at replicating existing Dutch station parts and therefor it stands out and I have decided not to include it in this set.
I'll save it for another GRF that can have some more imaginary parts ;-)
Also frees up some station-ID's that can be used for things that fit in better with this set.

Heh, seems my plea hasn't been for nothing

Getting the footbridge excluded from the set wasn't really my intention though. My intention was to have a better footbridge included. Can I motivate you to draw a better footbridge?

The fun thing now, is that while trying to find a good picture of the footbridge of 's-Hertogenbosch, I found this one;

http://maps.google.nl/maps?q=station+de ... 3,,0,-9.94

Who'd add such a silly shaped stairs underneath a footbridge?

;-)

Still, I think I can use the ID's for something better fitted with this set (like some non-track stations and an Amsterdam metro station).
Currently I'm working on (hopefully) improving Caelans Amsterdam CS station, other footbridges/overpasses will have to wait:

Caelans version is the small one, mine is the larger one. Still very much WIP.
